HOW TO GET TO HEAVEN

There are big questions that trouble all of us.

What happens when I die? Where will I spend eternity? How can I go to Heaven?  The most important question is this “If I were to die today, would I spend eternity in Heaven with God?”  The answer to that question lies within the pages of the Bible and is summed up in one word FAITH.

The Bible tells us in John 3:16 – “ For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Here is a simple acrostic of the word FAITH that will help you understand How You Can go to Heaven when you die:

F is for Forgiveness
Everyone needs forgiveness for our sins.  The Bible is very clear that all of us have a sin problem.
Romans 3:10 “ …There is none righteous no, not one:”
Romans 3:23 “For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 5:12 “ Wherefore as by one man(Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for ALL have sinned.

A is for Available
It does not matter what you have done.  God’s forgiveness is for all people, who will come to him by faith.
Romans 6:23b “… the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 10:13 “ For whosoever shall call upon the Lord shall be saved.”

I is for Impossible
It is impossible for you to go to Heaven on your own.  You can never do enough or be good enough.
John 14: 6 “Jesus said, I am the way , the truth, and the life, and no man cometh unto the Father but by me.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 “ For by grace are ye saved through FAITH, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.

T is for Turn
The word turn means to REPENT.  It means to change direction.  There are two roads in life: one is man’s way filled with unbelief and doing things man’s way;  the second is God’s way filled with faith, grace, mercy, forgiveness, and truth.
When we are born into this world we are all on Man’s Road which leads to destruction and Hell, where we will be separated for God forever.  We mustREPENT of going that direction and we do that by FAITH in Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross.
Luke 13: 3 “…Except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish.”
Acts 17:30 “… God commandeth all men everywhere to repent.”

H is for Heaven
If you are willing to repent of your sins and put your FAITH in Jesus Christ alone, upon the authority of God’s Word you will go to Heaven when you die.

1 John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know ye have eternal life , and that ye maybelieve on the name of the Son of God.

If you’ve never put your FAITH in Jesus Christ to be your personal Saviour, you could do that right now! With Him in your heart, life will make a lot more sense. You could stop right now and sincerely pray something like this:

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are God, that You died for my sin, and that You rose again from the dead. I know that I am a sinner, and I ask You now to be my personal Saviour. I’m placing my full trust in You alone, and I now accept Your gift of eternal life. Thank you for keeping Your promise! Amen.

You’ll never regret that decision! If you have just trusted Christ, we would love to know about your decision and help you learn more about that new relationship! Give us a call at 256.442.5293 and let us know today!

Grow in Grace

Once you know Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, we would like to help you start off on the right foot in developing a dynamic relationship with the Lord. Strong marriages and strong friendships don’t happen accidentally. They are a result of hard work. The amount of time and effort you put towards a relationship shows in the strength of the bond. This is also true regarding the relationship with our Lord. He wants to be close to us and walk with us every day, but sometimes we just don’t know where to start.

At Riverview Baptist Church, we offer a number of ministries specifically designed to help every Christian “grow in grace.”

If you have any questions about our ministries, please send us an email or give us a call – 256.442.5293.
